St Barbara Castle
This castle was built in the 9th century and is on an elevated ground, overlooking the city; guests will also be able to see the island of Tarbaca. Situated on Mount Benacantil, Castillo de Santa Barbara has been restored and a number of features have been added but the Moorish charm is retained. It is open daily and guests can visit it free of charge. This monument is accessible by lift from the Postiguet beach or by car.
Church of Santa Maria
With architecture based on the gothic design, the church of Santa Maria is the most historic church of the city of Alicante. With history back in the 14th century, Iglesia de Santa Maria was built on the remains of an ancient Mosque building. This landmark is open daily and entry is free.
Town Hall
Also known as Ayuntamiento, the town hall is one of the most prominent landmarks in the city of Alicante. Its history dates back to mid 18th century and it is popular for the detailed façade in baroque style, the twin towers as well as the elaborate interior. It hosts a number of events in the year and the guests can have a fun time sampling the great interiors. The admission to the town hall is free and the guests can visit it any day of the week.
