Alicante Weather and Climate

Alicante generally experiences Mediterranean climatic conditions, where summers are hot with mild winters. This climate, combined with the city’s numerous attractions like the sandy beaches, make Alicante a popular tourist destination all year round. Some of Costa Blanca’s best weather conditions are actually to be found here. The northern hills and mountains help to limit the rainfalls in Alicante with about 20 days of rainy weather annually.

Spring in Alicante witnesses an average temperature of 15⁰C during February and March. This period is very inviting to visit Alicante due to the warm temperatures and it is such times that beaches begin fill up.  By late April and early may, skies begin to get hot with average temperatures of 20⁰C or sometimes even higher.

Alicante’s summers run as from June to September and are generally dry with rainy weather being scarce. Any showers will normally clear as soon as they appear. Highs of 27⁰C are normally experienced in July and August. Sometimes, these temperatures can reach as high as 300C particularly on the beaches that are very sunny, unlike the cooler inlands. Summer times offer a peak tourist season in Alicante with hotels filling up quickly. The season also witnesses many festivals of outdoor fiestas and night times in restaurants and night clubs.

Autumns in Alicante are characterized by mild weather and climatic conditions. Mean temperatures during the day range between 23⁰C in late September to 18⁰C in late October. During this period, sandy beaches and the water sports are some of the tourist attractions that remain lively.

The weather in winter is mainly made of warm and sunny days of average temperatures of 10⁰C, thereby producing very mild climatic conditions. Rain still continues to be scarce even during the winter months. Frosts and Snows are very unlikely especially around the coastal areas of Alicante. Very little tourist activity can be witnessed at this time and those visiting will normally be welcome with very competitive hotel rates.
