Due to its attractions, Alicante receives very many tourists every year. A good number of the area’s restaurants also have a lot they offer to visitors, given that some have undergone changes to become modern places of dining while others still maintain that local way of doing things. This means you can get a taste of both local and foreign food while in Alicante.

There are a number of places you can eat when in Alicante. Tapas bars and restaurants in the area are actually among the leading dining places in Spain. When dining there, you get some insight on how this area and its people handle life. Alicante’s Tapas and bars are organized in such a way that they are a perfect place one wants to take a snack at lunch and take some locally produced wine. Other things you can get there include local cheeses, grilled prawns, stuffed olive and many more.

A number of restaurants in the area are located in areas where diners can have a magnificent view of the sandy beaches and port while on the menu you get a variety of seafood. In Alicante, fish dishes are given a whole new taste with its variety ranging from fried Sardines to fish stews (or ‘sancocho’ as it is locally known). The list of food does not end there since you can also be served with popular dishes in the area like lobsters, fried squid, cold meats and salads, tortillas, hot soups and many more.

Alicante’s restaurants are usually busy at night when many tourists go in to have a nice meal from 20:00 to 21:00. There is no rush when dining there so one can head to in from 18:00, when they start opening for business.

Areas where you can find many restaurants include the town centre, while some are found in the town hall (ayuntamiento), along the Calle Miquel Saler. One can also head to Alicante’s old Quarter area and Plaza del Carmen. Most of the bars in the area open till late (4:00 AM). For those who want to go out at night, Calle Carmen and Calle San Ferndando are the places to check out as they have a range of restaurants, bars and clubs.
